Minisforum has launched the S100 Pocket PC, announced at CES 2024. The compact PC can do without even plugging into an outlet because it supports PoE. With dimensions of 152 × 58 × 19.5 mm, the Minisforum S100 is comparable in size to a phone. It's powered by Intel's N100 (Alder Lake-N) processor, which is a 6W quad-coreA quad-core processor is a chip with four independent units called cores that read and execute central processing unit (CPU) instructions such as add, move data, and branch., chip without HyperThreading support, and it's clocked up to 3.4GHz. There's also 8GB of LPDDR5-4800 memory in a single channel configuration. The cooling system is a small fan attached to the heatsink - at idle it produces noise at 24dB, and at full load it can reach 43dB. Due to its compact size, you won't be able to replace the built-in drive and will have to settle for 256GB on UFS 2.1 - this means speeds of up to 850MB/s and 260MB/s for sequential reads and writes respectively, which is much lower than PCIe 3.0 SSDs. For power, you can use the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port or Ethernet (2.5Gbps), as Power over Ethernet (PoE) is supported. The chassis also features one HDMI 2.0 port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and a reset button to return the device to default settings.
