Apple's M4 MacBook Pro laptops get new screens |

The founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants Ross Young pointed out an interesting feature of the new MacBook Pro with M4 chips, which was not told neither by Apple itself, nor the authors of the first reviews. It turned out that the screens of ?apple? laptops this year are made using a new technology. And it's not about anti-reflective coating. Apple calls the screens of the new MacBook Pro with the proprietary term Liquid Retina XDR. Like previous models, they use mini-LED matrices, but this is the first time Apple has used a layer of quantum dots instead of red phosphorus film (KSF). According to Young, Apple used red KSF because it was less expensive to produce and didn't contain cadmium, which is toxic to humans. But manufacturers have learned how to make quantum dot-based screens without cadmium, which is what allowed Apple to use the technology in the new models. An expert says that the screens of the new MacBooks are even better in terms of color gamut and display of moving objects than their predecessors. It is not yet clear whether Apple will use this technology in future MacBook Air, which is expected to be released next spring. |
