Splay Max 35-inch portable monitor fits in a backpack

splay-max-

US startup Splay has introduced a foldable 35-inch monitor called Splay Max. It folds out like a tent and can work without being connected to a power outlet. The gadget is suitable both for home use and for work in the field.

Hidden inside the case is a laser projector that projects an image onto a white synthetic fabric that acts as a screen. The projection resolution is 1920x1080 pixels, and the refresh rate is 60 Hz. The manufacturer claims that the image is safe for the eyes: up to 70% less blue light and no glare compared to traditional screens.

Splay Max weighs 1.5 kg, works up to 5 hours from the built-in battery, has stereo speakers and supports connection via HDMI and USB Type-CWith the continued success of the USB interface, there exists a need to adapt USB technology to serve newer computing platforms and devices as they trend toward smaller, thinner and lighter form-factors. Many of these newer platforms and devices are reaching a point where existing USB receptacles and plugs are inhibiting innovation, especially given the relatively large size and internal volume constraints of the Standard-A and Standard-B versions of USB connectors. . The monitor can be placed on a table or hung on the wall. It's also compatible with photo and video stats.

The manufacturer positions the device as a universal tool for remote work, presentations, travel and educational events. Thanks to the compact bag (less than 30 cm in length), the monitor can be carried in a backpack.

The price of the Splay Max on Kickstarter is $744. Shipments and retail launch are scheduled for November 2025.
