Following the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm has announced a basic version of the chip without the ?elite? prefix in its name. Judging by its specifications, the new product will be inferior to the flagship, but will still be able to demonstrate high performance. The company has not yet disclosed all the specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, but it is already known that it will be equipped with eight powerful cores in a ?1 x 3.8 GHz + 7 x 3.32 GHz? configuration. The vendor also mentioned in its promotional materials a powerful NPU module, an image signal processor (ISP) with AI support, and a new generation Adreno GPU. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is built on a ?2 + 6? configuration with frequencies of up to 4.6 and 3.62 GHz, respectively, and is equipped with an Adreno 840 graphics accelerator, a Hexagon NPU neural processor, and a 20-bit ISP. The full release of the chip is expected to take place before the end of 2025. |
