Seagate has begun global shipments of its new Exos M and IronWolf Pro hard drives with capacities up to 30TB. These drives are based on the Mozaic 3+ platform and utilize heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology. The primary goal of these new products is to meet the growing demand for scalable storage as AI is being actively deployed in enterprise and cloud infrastructures. According to IDC, enterprises around the world are increasing their investments in AI infrastructure, where high-capacity hard disk drives remain a key enabler. Storage like Seagate Exos can accelerate the handling of large amounts of data, increase storage density and reduce power consumption. The new 30-terabyte drives are especially popular in data centers, where stable and efficient operation of unstructured data arrays is critical. Seagate devices are also targeted for use in local NAS systems, which are increasingly being used to process AI tasks ranging from video analytics to generative models. The NAS market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 17 percent through 2034, and the new IronWolf Pro models could be the foundation for scalable solutions in this segment. The Seagate Exos M and IronWolf Pro 30TB and 28TB hard drives are available for purchase now at a recommended price of $599.99 and $569.99, respectively. |
