While HDDs are just approaching 40TB, consumer SSDs have already surpassed the 120 terabyte mark. But that's not the limit: SanDisk has revealed plans to release much larger drives in the next couple of years. According to the manufacturer, the 128TB branded SSD is scheduled for release in the third quarter of this year. In 2026, the company plans to release 256TB models, and 512TB solutions are expected to hit the market in 2027. These SSDs will be based on BiCS8 QLC NAND memory combined with an enterprise-class controller adapted to work with QLC chips. There is no information about the price of such drives yet. |
