Samsung presented its first SSD with support for the modern PCIe Gen 5 interface and NVMe 2.0 protocol. The novelty with the index 9100 Pro, according to the manufacturer, became twice as fast as the flagship of the last generation. Samsung 9100 Pro with PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and proprietary 5-nm controller ?overclocked? to 14.8 GB / s and 13.4 GB / s in linear read and write operations, respectively. Block read and write performance is 2,200,000 and 2,600,000 IOPS. It is also claimed to improve energy efficiency by 49% compared to the Samsung 980 Pro. The drives are available both in ?pure? form and with complete heatsinks. The new products will be available in configurations with storage capacities from 1 to 8 TB (TBW from 600 to 4800 TB). Sales are scheduled to start in March. Recommended retail prices are as follows: 1 TB - $199 (with heatsink - $219); 2 TB - $299 (with heatsink - $319); 4 TB - $549 (with heatsink - $569); 8TB - on sale in the second half of the year, price not yet announced. |
