Samsung has unveiled its new GDDR7 video memory and, according to rumors, has begun mass production of chips for the next NVIDIA SUPER series graphics cards. The presentation took place at the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. The updated version of GDDR7 video memory is built on Samsung's own 12-nanometer DRAM process and provides a data transfer rate of 40 Gb/s. This is 4 Gb/s faster than the company's current fastest memory, according to the catalog on the Samsung semiconductor division's website. The new memory is available in 3 GB modules. According to insiders, the company has also begun mass production of 3 GB GDDR7 chips with a maximum speed of 28 Gb/s. Rumor has it that NVIDIA will use them in its GeForce RTX 5000 SUPER line. The choice of slower memory may be due to the company's preference for a proven solution with a production rate sufficient to ensure reliable supplies. |
