Samsung has expanded its series of high-speed flagship 9100 Pro drives with the introduction of an 8 TB model. The new product is available in both a basic version and a version with a heat sink compatible with the PlayStation 5 game console design. The sequential read speed of the Samsung 9100 Pro when connected via PCIe 5.0 is up to 14,800 MB/s, write speed is up to 13,400 MB/s, and the maximum IOPS is up to 2,200,000 and 2,600,000 operations per second for read and write, respectively. The version with a heat sink is compatible with both PCs and PlayStation 5. Samsung representatives have also calculated how many games the SSD will hold: based on the 2024 Steam chart, the average size of a ?large? title is 90.6 GB, so the drive will hold about eighty AAA games. The new product will go on sale in mid-September 2025. The recommended retail price in the US is $999 for the base model and $1,019 for the version with a heat sink. |
