At the Society for Information Display (SID) 2025 event, Samsung Display unveiled a new version of its proprietary EL-QD matrix. It provides much higher brightness and pixel density than previous prototypes, and in the future may become a more ?survivable? alternative to OLED-panels. Unlike OLEDs, QD-LED matrices are more durable. They don't use organic polymers that are prone to burn-in. Instead, energy is applied directly to the quantum dots, making them both glow and display different colors. According to the manufacturer, this technology provides accurate color reproduction with excellent black depth at low power consumption. The company showed two prototypes of the panel at once: one is distinguished by the brightness of backlighting up to 400 nits, the second - the pixel density of 264 ppi, providing excellent image clarity. At SID 2025, the new technology was hailed as ?outstanding work,? but the timing and pricing of commercial versions of EL-QD displays remain unknown. |
