Ricoh has unveiled the long-awaited successor to its iconic GR series. The new GR IV camera retains its pocket-sized dimensions and minimalist design, but features notable improvements that have been immediately appreciated by early users. Reviews and test shots have already appeared online, giving an idea of the new model's capabilities.

Judging by the impressions of bloggers and brand ambassadors, the GR IV has become faster and more convenient to use. The camera turns on almost instantly, which is important for street photography. The ergonomics have also changed: the body is slightly thinner and the grip is more secure. As a result, the GR IV still fits easily in your pocket, but feels more ?professional.?

The main improvements are related to the ?insides.? The camera is equipped with a new 26-megapixel APS-C sensor and an updated lens with an equivalent focal length of 28 mm and an f/2.8 aperture. The redesigned autofocus system is noticeably faster and more accurate, and the built-in 5-axis stabilization helps you take sharp pictures even when shooting handheld. The built-in 53 GB of memory is worth mentioning separately ? a rare feature for compact cameras.

Examples already published online show how the GR IV handles different scenarios: clear street shots, macro shots, and low-light shots. According to initial reviews, the camera has received exactly the improvements that users were hoping for.

Sales are scheduled to start in mid-September at a recommended price of $1,499.95, which is about 50% more expensive than its predecessor.
