As promised, realme unveiled its most advanced smartphone in terms of mobile photography at MWC 2025. This is a conceptual device called Interchangeable-Lens Concept with support for interchangeable lenses, just like on classic cameras. The realme Interchangeable-Lens Concept smartphone is equipped with a custom 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. It also has an ultra-wide-angle (Sony IMX890) and telephoto camera (Sony IMX989). But the main feature of the device is the ability to install a bayonet mount on the camera module to fix different lenses from traditional cameras. The Android Headlines team was among the first to test the device. According to them, when you connect an external lens to the smartphone, the camera app interface changes. For example, you can control the zoom. With the tested lens, you could get 60x optical zoom, although without a tripod, you can get sharp photos with a maximum of 30x zoom. Interestingly, the smartphone is built on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This may indicate that its development has been going on for several years. It should be noted that Xiaomi released a similar device back in 2022. In addition, a special version of the Xiaomi 15 with a plug-in camera module was shown at MWC 2025 . |
