A new document dedicated to the Radeon RX 9000 series video cards was published on the official AMD website. As it turned out, the new products have their own system requirements, due to which they simply will not work properly on outdated motherboard models. According to the source , Radeon RX 9000 graphics processors, as well as subsequent models of the series, officially support only UEFI mode. Simply put, motherboards with BIOS (including in CSM mode) are not suitable for assembly with new Radeons. AMD does not claim that the graphics cards will not launch at all in conjunction with older boards, but notes that their owners may experience "performance and compatibility issues." Among the advantages of UEFI, the company highlights better interface compatibility, reliable firmware updates over the Internet, support for drives larger than 2.2 TB, as well as fast shutdown and resumption of work. Most modern motherboards support UEFI mode, but in some cases, enabling it may require reinstalling the OS or even formatting the system disk (for example, if the legacy MBR partition table style is used instead of the modern GPT). |
