Philips Unveils 5K Gaming Monitor with Overclocking Capability |

Another dual-mode model has entered the gaming monitor market: the Philips 27M2G5800. The new model supports two combinations of resolution and refresh rate, giving it greater flexibility to adjust image quality depending on the chosen game genre. The Philips 27M2G5800 is based on a 27-inch IPS  In Plane Switching (IPS) panels are an expensive option but they have excellent colour accuracy and far greater viewing angles then TN and VA panels (Not that we condone slouching while gaming). They are great for graphics design and photo editing. However, the only downside to IPS panels if that they can sometimes have a slower response time than TN panels. This is the only real problem if you’re a very competitive gamer or want to game in 3D. As of late “IPS” has become a big marketing word. Step into an Apple store and you would be hard pressed talking to someone that didn’t mention Apple’s “brand new IPS Displays!” In fact, Apple is probably one of the biggest marketers of this “new-found” technology. As a business person myself, this is when you have to tip your hat to Apple’s awesome marketing machine. Why? Well, because IPS is actually nothing new. In fact, this technology was originally invented in 1996 by Hitachi..panel. Users can switch between 5120x2880 @ 180 Hz and 2560x1440 @ 350 Hz modes. In both cases, the response time is 1 ms (GtG), and the peak brightness is 500 cd/m².The monitor is DisplayHDR 400 certified, with a color gamut of 100% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3. Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1, as well as a pair of USB Type-A ports and a 3.5mm audio jack. The monitor comes with a stand that allows for height, tilt, and swivel adjustments. Alternatively, compatible mounts with a 100x100 mm VESA mount can be used. The Philips 27M2G5800 is now available in the Chinese market for $730. |
