The long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 presentation took place, announcing the console's technical capabilities, new features and games, and a launch date. Nintendo Switch 2 will be noticeably larger than the first version: the screen has increased from 6.2 to 7.9 inches. However, the thickness of the body will remain identical - 13.9 mm. The device will be able to run games at 120 fps @ 1080p in portable mode and up to 4K @ 60 fps in docked mode. The internal storage will be 256GB (versus 32GB and 64GB for the first version of different revisions). In addition to the magnetic Joy-Con, which can even be used as a computer mouse, the device will receive a full-fledged Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller gamepad in a similar form factor to the Xbox gamepad - the controller will have two additional rear paddles, a Jack connector and a dedicated button for chat. The same is present on the right Joy-Con: it allows players to chat, quickly find each other in games, or even show screen broadcasts, which will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Curiously, the Nintendo Switch 2 will get a special camera: it will be able to broadcast an image of your face in cooperative games instead of digital avatars. The device is offered to be purchased separately. As for games, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will get improvements - with better graphics, increased framerates and so on. Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, NBA 2K, Civilization VII, Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars: Outlaws and other more or less current titles not available on the first Switch will appear on the console. A little later, new titles will be released, such as Borderlands 4, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 and Project 007 from the creators of Hitman. Among the games of their own production we can highlight Mario Kart World and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprison, a musou action game that will be a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom. Of particular note: the release date of the anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong was revealed at the presentation - it is scheduled for release in 2025. And From Software announced a new game - The Duskbloods. Apparently, it will be exclusive to the platform. Nintendo Switch 2 sales will launch worldwide on June 5. The console will cost $450 ($500 for the Mario Kart World bundle). |
