MSI has unveiled a gaming monitor with a refresh rate of 210 Hz, fast response time, and wide color gamut. At the same time, it costs just over $100. The MSI MAG 275QF E21 features a 210 Hz 27-inch Rapid IPS  In Plane Switching (IPS) panels are an expensive option but they have excellent colour accuracy and far greater viewing angles then TN and VA panels (Not that we condone slouching while gaming). They are great for graphics design and photo editing. However, the only downside to IPS panels if that they can sometimes have a slower response time than TN panels. This is the only real problem if you’re a very competitive gamer or want to game in 3D. As of late “IPS” has become a big marketing word. Step into an Apple store and you would be hard pressed talking to someone that didn’t mention Apple’s “brand new IPS Displays!” In fact, Apple is probably one of the biggest marketers of this “new-found” technology. As a business person myself, this is when you have to tip your hat to Apple’s awesome marketing machine. Why? Well, because IPS is actually nothing new. In fact, this technology was originally invented in 1996 by Hitachi..panel with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, a contrast ratio of 1200:1, and a response time of 0.5 ms (GtG). The display covers 121% of the sRGB color gamut, 94% of Adobe RGB, and 95% of DCI-P3. It also supports VESA DisplayHDR 400 with a peak brightness of up to 400 nits and a maximum brightness of up to 300 nits. Gaming features include Adaptive-Sync, console mode, shadow brightener, floating crosshair, display presets for different game genres, and real-time automatic color saturation adjustment. There is also a blue filter, anti-glare coating, a stand with adjustment in the range from -5? to 20?, two HDMI 2.0b connectors, one DisplayPort 1.4a, and a headphone jack. The new product is already available in China for $110. |
