| I am considering resurrecting my Gigabyte GA-8IRXP based tower as a Linux file server. It has 3 RAM slots with 512Mb DIMMs now. I understand it will support a max of 2GB RAM. Can I replace 1 DIMM with a 1GB stick or will I need 2 sticks of 1GB RAM? I'll also want to get IDE-SATA adapters to put modern multi-TB HDDs in it. Any suggestions? As old and relatively slow as it is would there be any point in getting a GB NIC or just stick with the on-board 100Mb? Thank you. | ||
