MediaTek Dimensity 9500 unveiled: 3 nm, 4.21 GHz, and high energy efficiency

MediaTek has unveiled its new Dimensity 9500 chipset, the third generation of its flagship All Big Core series. The chip is designed for maximum gaming performance, AI processing, and energy efficiency, and the first smartphones based on it will be available in the near future.

The processor is based on eight cores using ARM C1-Ultra, C1-Premium, and C1-Pro architecture, manufactured using a 3nm process. One of them operates at 4.21 GHz ? MediaTek has broken the 4 GHz barrier for the first time. Cache sizes have also been increased: L3 has grown from 12 to 16 MB, and L1 has been doubled. As a result, the company promises a 32% increase in performance in single-core tasks and a 16% increase in multi-core tasks, while reducing power consumption by up to 55% at peak loads.

The AI processing unit has received a significant upgrade. The new NPU 990 delivers twice the performance and supports large models (up to 128,000 tokens), as well as being able to generate 4K images locally on the device. In addition, the industry's first CIM-NPU has been implemented for continuous operation of small models with minimal power consumption, which, according to MediaTek, reduces energy costs by another 42%.

The graphics are provided by Mali G1-Ultra MC12. MediaTek claims a 33% increase in performance, 42% improvement in energy efficiency, and nearly twice as fast ray tracing rendering. The company promises support for ray tracing games at 120 fps, as well as compatibility with Unreal Engine 5.6 and Vulkan 1.4.

The chip also has improved camera support: up to 200 MP, RAW pre-processing, and 4K video recording at 60 fps in portrait mode, as well as 4K at 120 fps in Dolby Vision with stabilization.

The first devices based on Dimensity 9500 will be presented by vivo (X300 series) and OPPO (Find X9 Pro) in the fourth quarter of 2025.
