After more than ten years, Logitech has returned to producing solar-powered keyboards with the launch of the Signature Slim Solar Plus K980. The new product is powered exclusively by light, both solar and artificial (starting at 200 lux) . The manufacturer claims that the built-in battery can last up to 10 years, and a fully charged keyboard will last up to four months in complete darkness. Unlike older models, the K980 has no USB connector or removable battery compartment. However, the battery can still be replaced if necessary: Logitech has confirmed that it can be safely removed, and replacement parts will be available through iFixit. The Signature Slim Solar Plus K980 is a full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad and multimedia keys that can be reassigned in the proprietary Logi Options Plus app. Additional buttons include camera and microphone mute, as well as a new AI Launch Key ? by default, it launches Copilot in Windows or Gemini in ChromeOS, but it can be reconfigured for ChatGPT or custom macros, for example. The keyboard supports Bluetooth connectivity for up to three devices and is compatible with the Logitech Bolt receiver (not included). The new product is already available for purchase at a price of $99.99. |
