LG has announced the launch of production of an LCD display for laptops, whose main feature is support for a refresh rate starting at 1 Hz. The new product is positioned as an alternative to LTPO smartphone panels, which will improve the battery life of portable PCs without compromising image quality. According to the manufacturer, the Oxide 1Hz panel supports a refresh rate range of 1 to 120 Hz. This setting will vary depending on the type of content: for example, the refresh rate will decrease when reading documents, while it will ?speed up? to the maximum during gaming or when watching movies. LG Display representatives claim that using the Oxide 1Hz panel instead of conventional panels will increase laptop battery life by up to 48% under otherwise identical conditions. The new display has already entered mass production: laptops equipped with it are expected to be unveiled soon. In November 2025, Intel and BOE announced a panel with similar specifications, but a release date has not yet been announced. |
