The drive with a PCIe 4.0 interface and SLC cache is only available in a 4-terabyte version. The claimed read speed is up to 7000 MB/s, and the write speed is up to 6000 MB/s.

?If you're a gamer who needs storage to keep up with your growing library, the Lexar PLAY 2280 SE SSD delivers performance, space, and reliability,? said Joey Lopez, director of brand marketing for PlayStation.

The Lexar Play is priced at $224 from US distributors. The company also introduced the more affordable 4TB Lexar NM790 drive with read speeds of up to 7400 MB/s, designed for PC builds. It will cost customers $219.
