The ThinkPad X1 series is Lenovo's top of the line ThinkPad notebook lineup. The newest representatives, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 and the X1 2-in-1 Gen 9, were announced in time for CES 2024. The X1 Carbon G12 clamshell came out right after the presentation, but only in limited form: availability was limited to the US, and only a small number of configuration options could be purchased. The X1 2-in-1, successor to the ThinkPad X1 Yoga G8 and Transformer laptop, was not available, at least not until now. That's changing, as Lenovo has posted the new X1 ThinkPad laptops to PSREF, which is Lenovo's central repository of product specifications. This means that overall product availability is close. Of course, being a specs database, the PSREF pages also reveal more information about these two laptops than we knew until now. For example, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon G12 was criticized in a 1080p webcam review. There will be a higher resolution option for the webcam, as the spec sheet lists a UHD/8 MPix webcam. However, the camera upgrade is limited to a 2.8K OLED ![]() |
