Chinese GPD officially announced Win 5 portable gaming computer - the first such device based on AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 flagship processor from the Strix Halo family. The device will be demonstrated at ChinaJoy 2025 in early August. AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 combines 16 Zen 5 cores, Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 compute units and an advanced neural module. The performance of the portable was expectedly impressive. In the benchmark Black Myth: Wukong the device showed up to 210 frames per second with power consumption of 55-61W and temperature between 64-66 ?C. The exact graphics settings are not disclosed, but presumably 720p resolution was used and TSR was enabled. The processor used supports a TDP range of 45W to 120W and, in addition to high graphics power, provides access to Windows 11's AI features thanks to the built-in NPU. This makes Win 5 potentially interesting not only for gamers, but also for users who work with AI-related tasks. Design details are being kept under wraps for now. According to rumors, Win 5 may ditch the QWERTY keyboard as in Win 4 and get a PSP-style monolithic body. GPD also confirmed that it will continue to develop a line of gaming PCs with Strix architecture and next-generation AI features. |
