Corsair has announced the MP700 PRO SE PCIe 5.0 SSD, which is capable of record sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 12,000 MB/s, nearly twice as fast as the highest performing previous generation PCIe 4.0 models.

As the company notes, such impressive performance opens up other storage and processing possibilities. For example, the MP700 PRO SE will allow instant loading of the operating system and applications, as well as give a significant advantage in gaming thanks to support for Microsoft DirectStorage technology. In addition to the speed of sequential operations, this SSD has excellent random read and write performance for small files, which is important for everyday use as a system disk.

According to TechPowerUp website, the MP700 PRO SE is available in 2TB and 4TB versions in M.2 2280 form factor, so it can be easily installed in modern motherboards and gaming PCs. The new product will be available in a heatsink-less version, with an aluminum heatsink, as well as with a waterblock for connection to an SLR. The heatsink-less version will require additional cooling for optimal performance, but in most cases the built-in M.2 radiator on the motherboard will be sufficient.

While the MP700 PRO SE is primarily targeted at the latest systems with 14th generation Intel processors, AMD Ryzen 7000 and PCIe 5.0 support to reach its full potential, the SSD is also fully compatible with PCIe 4.0 platforms. This will allow for upgrades without having to change the entire system.

The Corsair MP700 PRO SE PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe 2.0 M.2 SSDs in 2TB and 4TB capacities are available now through Corsair's online store and Corsair's network of authorized retailers and distributors. The 2-TB version with a waterblock is priced at $345, while twice the memory capacity will cost you $640. The 4TB version without heatsink is priced at $625.The Air Cooler version will be released in June.
