Colorful announced a replaceable power connector for RTX 50 graphics cards |

Chinese company Colorful has proposed an original solution to the problem of melting 12V-2×6 connectors on the last two generations of NVIDIA graphics cards. For this purpose, the vendor plans to produce modular connectors, which in case of failure can be easily replaced without going to a service center. To realize this plan, the vendor has equipped the test samples of RTX 50 series graphics cards with a special slot where the card with a power connector is installed in the same way as the graphics card itself is installed in the PCI-Express slot. This solution does not reduce the risk of melting (it is associated with the ?crooked? distribution of current across the contacts), but in case of breakage, the affected connector can be easily replaced with a new one. The price of the original spare part and the dates of availability of the modified graphics cards have not been announced yet. |
