Casio has expanded its G-LIDE line of wristwatches with the new GBX-H5600 model. The gadget looks like a regular everyday accessory with a monochrome LCD screen, but it supports the basic functions of smartwatches and offers very long battery life away from a power outlet. The Casio GBX-H5600 can track heart rate and assess sleep quality, as well as track workouts at the gym and pool, predicting recovery times after exercise. Additionally, the new model measures steps taken and calories burned, displaying statistics in a mobile app on a smartphone. The watch is water-resistant to 20 ATM and supports tide monitoring at 3,300 locations for surfing. Other features of the gadget include tracking sunrise/sunset, moon phases, world time, a timer, an alarm, a stopwatch, and notifications from your smartphone. The new model's screen is made using MIP technology, and the case is made of rubber reinforced with carbon fiber. The claimed battery life is up to 30 days with moderate use of smart features, and up to 11 months in power-saving mode. If there's no power outlet nearby, you can recharge the battery using the built-in solar panel. Sales of the Casio GBX-H5600 are scheduled to begin in May, exclusively in the Japanese market. The new model will be available in black (GBX-H5600-1) and blue (GBX-H5600-2) color options at a price of $275. |
