The ASUS monitor family has been expanded with the addition of a budget model with the index VA259HGA. The new product, with its increased refresh rate and eye protection features, is positioned as an affordable display for work and entertainment.
The monitor is based on a 24.5-inch IPS In Plane Switching (IPS) panels are an expensive option but they have excellent colour accuracy and far greater viewing angles then TN and VA panels (Not that we condone slouching while gaming). They are great for graphics design and photo editing. However, the only downside to IPS panels if that they can sometimes have a slower response time than TN panels. This is the only real problem if you’re a very competitive gamer or want to game in 3D. As of late “IPS” has become a big marketing word. Step into an Apple store and you would be hard pressed talking to someone that didn’t mention Apple’s “brand new IPS Displays!” In fact, Apple is probably one of the biggest marketers of this “new-found” technology. As a business person myself, this is when you have to tip your hat to Apple’s awesome marketing machine. Why? Well, because IPS is actually nothing new. In fact, this technology was originally invented in 1996 by Hitachi..panel with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 300 cd/m², and a response time of 1 ms (MPRT). The list of features is complemented by a relatively wide color gamut (99% sRGB) and an anti-glare coating.
The new product supports Adaptive-Sync (prevents image tearing), Flicker-Free, Low Blue Light, and DC Dimming (reduces eye strain) technologies. The Power Sync feature allows the monitor to turn on and off simultaneously with compatible ASUS mini PCs when connected via HDMI.
In addition, the monitor is equipped with a pair of built-in 2W speakers and comes with a stand that can be adjusted from +23? to -5?.
The ASUS VA259HGA is already available in China for $86.
