ASUS has expanded its ROG Strix monitor series with the introduction of the XG27JCG model. The new product is positioned as the first 5K gaming model on the market with a refresh rate of 180 Hz.
The ROG Strix XG27JCG is based on a 27-inch Fast IPS In Plane Switching (IPS) panels are an expensive option but they have excellent colour accuracy and far greater viewing angles then TN and VA panels (Not that we condone slouching while gaming). They are great for graphics design and photo editing. However, the only downside to IPS panels if that they can sometimes have a slower response time than TN panels. This is the only real problem if you’re a very competitive gamer or want to game in 3D. As of late “IPS” has become a big marketing word. Step into an Apple store and you would be hard pressed talking to someone that didn’t mention Apple’s “brand new IPS Displays!” In fact, Apple is probably one of the biggest marketers of this “new-found” technology. As a business person myself, this is when you have to tip your hat to Apple’s awesome marketing machine. Why? Well, because IPS is actually nothing new. In fact, this technology was originally invented in 1996 by Hitachi..panel that can operate in two modes: 5K @ 180 Hz and 1440p @ 330 Hz. The peak brightness of the display is 600 nits (VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification), and the color depth is 10 bits (97% of the P3 gamut).
The monitor supports NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ELMB 2, and Variable Overdrive technologies to improve image smoothness and clarity in dynamic scenes. Dynamic Shadow Boost, Dynamic Crosshair, and AI Visual are also designed to enhance the gaming experience of the owner of this new product.
The monitor's set of interfaces includes a DisplayPort 1.4 connector, a pair of HDMI 2.1 connectors, USB Type-C With the continued success of the USB interface, there exists a need to adapt USB technology to serve newer computing platforms and devices as they trend toward smaller, thinner and lighter form-factors. Many of these newer platforms and devices are reaching a point where existing USB receptacles and plugs are inhibiting innovation, especially given the relatively large size and internal volume constraints of the Standard-A and Standard-B versions of USB connectors. (15 W), and a USB hub with three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connectors. The included stand allows you to adjust the height, tilt, and swivel of the display, and if necessary, rotate it to portrait orientation.
In addition, the new product is equipped with a VESA 100x100 mm bracket mount and a 1/4-inch thread for attaching cameras and other accessories.
The ASUS ROG Strix XG27JCG will go on sale in China on December 31 at a price of $920.
