Apple has registered a patent titled ?Electronic Devices with Enhanced I/O Capabilities.? In it, the company describes a new version of the Magic Mouse, which instead of clicking and scrolling will be controlled by contactless gestures. According to the project documentation, Apple will equip the mouse with a set of sensors placed on the side edge of the case. With their help, the device will be able to track the movements of the user's fingers at a distance. The way of controlling Magic Mouse will be similar to the Apple Vision Pro headset. The patent also indicates the possibility of using optical sensors or infrared cameras. In addition, the document mentions projection technology for displaying additional interface elements on various surfaces: for example, a virtual keyboard. The main focus is on the use of this function in the mouse, but the company is considering its application in other devices: laptops, monitors, tablets and even pieces of furniture. It is noted that gesture control will be only an auxiliary input method for the mouse. Now the idea is at the patent stage - whether it will ever be realized in a commercial device is unknown. |
