After numerous rumors and insider reports, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D gaming processor was officially unveiled at CES 2026. At the same time, AMD presented the Ryzen AI 400 series of laptop chips, compared the new products with competitors, and talked about their characteristics. The AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D is a desktop eight-core, 16-thread processor based on the Zen 5 architecture. It has 96 MB of L3 cache, including 64 MB of 3D V-Cache. The CPU's peak clock speed in Boost mode is 5.6 GHz, compared to 5.2 GHz for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. According to AMD, the new product outperforms the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K by an average of 27% in gaming performance. For example, in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the advantage of the ?red? chip is 5%, and in Baldur's Gate 3, it is 60%. The launch date and price of the new product will be announced later. The Ryzen AI 400 (Gorgon Point) mobile series includes seven processors. They are manufactured using hybrid technology based on Zen 5 and Zen 5c cores. In terms of configuration, the chips are similar to the Strix Point line models: Ryzen AI 9 HX 475: 12 cores/24 threads, up to 5.2 GHz, Radeon 890M (3.1 GHz), XDNA2 (60 TOPS) Ryzen AI 9 HX 470: 12 cores/24 threads, up to 5.2 GHz, Radeon 890M (3.1 GHz), XDNA2 (55 TOPS) Ryzen AI 9 HX 465: 10 cores/20 threads, up to 5 GHz, Radeon 880M (2.9 GHz), XDNA2 (50 TOPS) Ryzen AI 9 HX 450: 8 cores/16 threads, up to 5.1 GHz, Radeon 860M (3.1 GHz), XDNA2 (50 TOPS) Ryzen AI 9 HX 445: 6 cores/12 threads, up to 4.6 GHz, Radeon 840M (2.9 GHz), XDNA2 (50 TOPS) Ryzen AI 9 HX 435: 6 cores/12 threads, up to 4.5 GHz, Radeon 840M (2.8 GHz), XDNA2 (50 TOPS) Ryzen AI 9 HX 430: 4 cores/8 threads, up to 4.5 GHz, Radeon 840M (2.8 GHz), XDNA2 (50 TOPS) The total L2 and L3 cache capacity of the new products is up to 36 MB, with support for DDR5-8000 and DDR5-8533 memory modules depending on the model. According to the company, in common applications, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 is up to 71% faster than the Intel Core Ultra 9 288V, and in games ? up to 12% faster (at low graphics settings). Laptops with the new ?red? chips are expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2026. |
