AMD accidentally declassified two new Radeon graphics cards |
|
In the code of AMD ROCm software stack there was a mention of not yet announced graphics cards of Radeon RX 8000 family based on RDNA 4 architecture. This indirectly confirmed the name of the models that the company may announce in January 2025. If the source is to be believed, AMD will be the first to introduce the Radeon RX 8600 (GFX1200) and Radeon RX 8800 (GFX1201) models as part of the new series. This is in line with the company's earlier statements that it does not intend to ?break into? the top segment, and plans to focus on mid-budget models. Thus, Radeon RX 8900 may not appear on the market. The most powerful AMD graphics card of the next generation will presumably be RX 8800 XT model based on Navi 48 graphics chip. According to insiders, it will consume 25% less power than the RX 7900 XTX, while being 45% better at ray tracing. At the heart of the less expensive graphics cards of the series will probably lie the Navi 44 chip. The premiere of ?red? novelties is expected in the period from January 7 to 10 next year at CES 2025. |
