Acer has launched a new 27-inch Predator XB273U X1 gaming monitor in China. The device is aimed at gamers who are interested in high refresh rate, minimal latency and high image quality. At the same time, the cost of the novelty - less than 200 dollars.
The monitor is based on a Fast IPS In Plane Switching (IPS) panels are an expensive option but they have excellent colour accuracy and far greater viewing angles then TN and VA panels (Not that we condone slouching while gaming). They are great for graphics design and photo editing. However, the only downside to IPS panels if that they can sometimes have a slower response time than TN panels. This is the only real problem if you’re a very competitive gamer or want to game in 3D. As of late “IPS” has become a big marketing word. Step into an Apple store and you would be hard pressed talking to someone that didn’t mention Apple’s “brand new IPS Displays!” In fact, Apple is probably one of the biggest marketers of this “new-found” technology. As a business person myself, this is when you have to tip your hat to Apple’s awesome marketing machine. Why? Well, because IPS is actually nothing new. In fact, this technology was originally invented in 1996 by Hitachi..panel with WQHD QHD (Quad High Definition) is a resolution standard for high-end monitors, televisions and mobile devices. QHD is specified as 2560x1440 pixels at a16x9 aspect ratio, four times that of 720p standard high definition. Ultra wide QHD boosts the horizontal pixels to 3440 for a 21x9 aspect ratio. QHD is a resolution suitable to large-size screens. On mobile devices, given the 5.5 inch screens, QHD makes for a very high pixel density of 538dpi. QHD is on the horizon for higher end smartphones. resolution (2560x1440 pixels). The screen delivers up to 200Hz via DisplayPort and 144Hz via HDMI. The response time is just 1ms (GtG), making it suitable for dynamic shooters and cyber sports. There's also AMD FreeSync Premium support to eliminate image tearing during gaming.
The screen covers 90% of the DCI-P3 color space and supports 8-bit color depth. VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification is specified, which means increased brightness and contrast levels compared to regular SDR. For comfort during prolonged use, vision protection technologies are provided: flicker-free backlighting, blue light reduction mode and anti-reflective coating. Among the additional conveniences - two built-in 2W speakers, adjustable stand and a set of ports: two HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4 and 3.5mm audio output. There is an option of mounting on a bracket using a VESA 100x100 mm mount.
