Vivo unveiled its new foldable smartphone, the X Fold 6. The device features a very thin body and a capacious battery, but the manufacturer's main focus is on the cameras. The camera capabilities of the new device are claimed to be on par with top-end camera phones. The model features a refreshed design with rounded corners and a 2.5D metal frame. Engineers used an improved hinge mechanism made of durable composite materials, making the crease where the inner display folds virtually invisible. The device boasts IP5X, IPX8, and IPX9 protection, as well as resistance to low temperatures down to -20?C. The device has two displays: an internal 8.02-inch Samsung M14 and an external 6.51-inch BOE display. Both are built with LTPO AMOLED Performance is driven by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor, complemented by vivo's proprietary communications chip for improved connection stability and Wi-Fi The manufacturer has installed a 7,000 mAh battery in the slim design, featuring a next-generation silicon anode and semi-solid-state architecture for increased energy density and heat resistance. It supports 80-watt wired and 40-watt wireless charging. The camera system includes a 200-megapixel Samsung HPB module with Zeiss optics, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens (LYT602) with 3x optical zoom. There's also support for a 200mm teleconverter, and the proprietary vivo V3+ processor handles processing. The smartphone runs OriginOS 6 Fold, based on Android 16, with the new Atomic Workbench system. It allows for flexible app management on the large internal screen, dividing it into multiple zones for simultaneous work with documents, the browser, messaging apps, and other apps. The smartphone is now available for pre-order in China, with sales starting on July 1st. Prices start at 7,999 yuan (~$1,175) for the 12GB + 256GB version. The 16GB + 1TB version costs 10,999 yuan (~$1,619), and the bundle with a teleconverter costs at least 11,999 yuan (~$1,765). |
