Silicon Power has unveiled its fastest solid-state drive, the XPower XS90 Gen 5 x4. It combines high-speed memory with LPDDR4 cache and is designed for AI, gaming, and professional tasks, from video rendering to 3D graphics creation. The model is made in the M.2 2280 form factor and is based on TSMC's 6 nm process technology. The drive is capable of read speeds of up to 14,300 MB/s and write speeds of up to 13,400 MB/s. The PCIe 5.0 x4 interface unlocks the potential of modern processors and motherboards, while low power consumption makes the device a versatile solution for both desktop PCs and laptops. In addition, the XPower XS90 supports the NVMe 2.0 protocol while maintaining backward compatibility with earlier versions. Silicon Power claims that the XS90 delivers stable performance even under heavy loads. The drive is available in 1, 2, and 4 TB versions. However, the manufacturer did not install a standard heat sink, leaving the user the option to choose their own cooling solution. Thanks to its compact size, the SSD is suitable for systems with limited space and is compatible with a wide range of platforms. |
