POCO unveils F8 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and subwoofer

POCO has officially unveiled its flagship F8 series, which includes the F8 Ultra and F8 Pro models, on the global market. The new models place a special emphasis on sound, as Bose experts were responsible for the sound tuning, and the higher-end version even has a dedicated subwoofer.

The flagship POCO F8 Ultra runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 paired with a VisionBoost D8 coprocessor and a large 6700 mm² vapor chamber. The smartphone has a 6.9-inch AMOLEDAMOLED, which stands for Active Matrix OLED, is a hybrid display technology that pairs the active matrix backplane from a traditional TFT display with an OLED display. As a result of their active matrix natures, AMOLED displays have faster pixel switching response times than do traditional OLED displays, which are prone to ghosting when displaying fast moving animations.display with a resolution of 1.5K, brightness up to 3500 nits, and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

The POCO F8 Ultra has three 50 MP cameras on the back: a main module with a large Light Fusion 950 sensor, a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide-angle module. A 6500 mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging is responsible for autonomy. There is IP68IP (or "Ingress Protection") ratings are defined in international standard EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60509:1989). They are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies (tools, dirt etc) and moisture. The numbers that follow IP each have a specific meaning. The POCO F8 Pro has a more compact form factor and less powerful hardware. It is equipped with the previous flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and has a 6.59-inch screen.

The cameras in the ?pro? model have also been simplified: the main module is 50 MP (Light Fusion 800), a 2.5x telephoto lens with 50 MP, and an ultra-wide lens with 8 MP. The battery here is 6210 mAh with the same 100-watt charging, but without wireless support.

Both models run on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and will receive four major system updates and six years of security patches.

In Europe, the POCO F8 Pro will cost ?649 for the 12 + 256 GB version or ?699 for the 12 + 512 GB version. The POCO F8 Ultra will cost ?829 for the 12 + 256 GB version or ?899 for the 16 + 512 GB version.
