PNY's product catalog has been expanded with the CS3250 solid-state drive with a PCIe 5.0 interface. The trump card of this new product is its combination of high data transfer speeds and a relatively low price for this segment of the electronics market. The 2 TB version of the drive (2 GB DRAM buffer, 1200 TBW) has a claimed sequential read and write speed of 14,900 MB/s and 14,000 MB/s, respectively. The 1 TB model with half the buffer capacity and a resource of 600 TBW offers the same read speed, but its write speed is lower, at up to 13,550 MB/s. The company does not disclose the specifications of the NAND cells and controller on its website. According to industry media reports, it is most likely a combination of Phison E28 PCIe 5.0 and 218-layer TLC BiCS8 memory manufactured by Sandisk or Kioxia. The PNY CS3250 is already on sale at a price of $125 for 1 TB and $219 for 2 TB. The announcement date and price of the 4 TB version have not yet been announced. |
