The result of cooperation between MediaTek and Google is a new Filogic MT7903 chip. It is oriented for use in Google Home products, as well as wider distribution of the Thread network protocol. The novelty supports several wireless standards, including tri-band Wi-Fi  Wi-Fi is a type of wireless networking protocol that allows devices to communicate without cords or cables. Wi-Fi is technically an industry term that represents a type of wireless local area network (LAN) protocol based on the 802.11 IEEE network standard. It is the most popular means of communicating data wirelessly, within a fixed location, today. 6E, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. There are also plans to implement support for the Matter protocol, which enables fast connectivity between smart home devices from different brands.MediaTek notes that a key feature of the Filogic MT7903 was the Thread border router offload feature. It allows the SoC to enter a low-power sleep mode without interrupting connectivity to gadgets in the home ecosystem. Google expects the first products with the MT7903 chip to hit the market in the first half of 2025. |
