Canon has added a full-frame CMOS sensor with a record resolution of 410MP for 35mm sensors to its product catalog. It is, according to the company, suitable for shooting photos and recording video - but expect its appearance in consumer digital cameras in the near future is not worth it. The sensor has a resolution of 24,592 x 16,704 pixels - 12 times the resolution of an 8K camera. Canon claims that this is the largest number of megapixels that ever managed to fit into a 35-millimeter sensor. The novelty is aimed at the industrial sector, including medical devices. According to the specification, the novelty is designed for the speed of continuous shooting of photos up to 8 fps. When using binning (combining four neighboring pixels into one), the monochrome version of the proprietary image sensor will also record 100-megapixel video at 24 fps. The sales launch date and price of the new product have not been announced yet. |
