AOC has unveiled two new AGON series gaming monitors with Fast IPS  In Plane Switching (IPS) panels are an expensive option but they have excellent colour accuracy and far greater viewing angles then TN and VA panels (Not that we condone slouching while gaming). They are great for graphics design and photo editing. However, the only downside to IPS panels if that they can sometimes have a slower response time than TN panels. This is the only real problem if you’re a very competitive gamer or want to game in 3D. As of late “IPS” has become a big marketing word. Step into an Apple store and you would be hard pressed talking to someone that didn’t mention Apple’s “brand new IPS Displays!” In fact, Apple is probably one of the biggest marketers of this “new-found” technology. As a business person myself, this is when you have to tip your hat to Apple’s awesome marketing machine. Why? Well, because IPS is actually nothing new. In fact, this technology was originally invented in 1996 by Hitachi..panels. Their distinctive features include high refresh rates, wide color gamut, and support for a range of functions designed to make gameplay more comfortable.The higher-end model, the U27G4XM, features a 27-inch screen with mini-LED backlighting (1152 dimming zones). The monitor can switch between 4K @ 160 Hz and 1080p @ 320 Hz display modes. The color gamut is 151.8% sRGB and 98% P3, and the peak brightness is 1200 cd/m² (DisplayHDR 1000). The model supports picture-in-picture mode and the ability to split the screen in two to broadcast images from two sources (HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4). Other features include a built-in USB hub, blue light filter, software crosshairs, and the ability to quickly change image profiles. The monitor will go on sale in China in January 2026 at a price of $526. |
